ADVANCE SMART HOME AUTOMATION

ABSTRACT

This project presents the development of home appliances based on voice command using a windows application. This system has been designed to assist and provide support to elderly and disabled people at home. Google application has been used as voice recognition and processes the voice input from the windows. In this project, the voice input has been captured by the windows application which is a name called VIKI and will be sent to the Arduino board. Then Arduino received the signal and processed the input signal to control the light and fan. The proposed system intended to control electrical appliances with a relatively user-friendly interface and ease of installation.

The Application is kind (A.I)  It can communicate like human simulation using the English language. Its designs are very user friendly and looking good. This application completely developed by C#.NET programming language with the SQL database.

PROJECT GOAL:

To build a robust hardware infrastructure and control to the application by human very fewer efforts. A voice command home automation system to control appliances with your voice through a windows A.I application. An Arduino Mega board is used for controlling the relay through which an appliance is switched on/off. It can modify the user requirement to add edit device configuration more functions.

PROJECT: HOW IT IS WORKING

The project containing a small size of control box which consists full of the circuit is built around an Arduino mega board, Power converter, and an 8-channel relay board. The number of channels depends on the number of appliances you wish to control. Arduino Mega is powered with a 5V DC adaptor/power source. The relay module and It is controlled is voice command control, Which is communicating to serial port number, While input the voice command into the VIKI application, It will understand which signal send to the Arduino board, Ardunio board turn power signal to relay module. 

PROJECT: SOFTWARE

The software program for the project(VIKI_Control.ino) is written in Arduino programming language (java & c++) called Processing. Arduino mega is programmed using Arduino IDE software that you can download from arduino.cc.

The Application for the project(V.I.K.I.exe) is the design and coded by C# programming language with SQL database functionalities. The application is programmed using Visual studio 2013 IDE software that you can download from Visual studio.com

PROJECT: IMPLEMENTATION AND TESTING

Assemble the circuit as shown in the circuit diagram. Open Arduino IDE and compile the program (sketch). Upload the sketch (Viki_Control.ino) to the Arduino board. Connect the port using USB cable into the terminal. Finally, Run the application, connect the port. It will control your appliance in your voice command

PROJECT: SUMMARY

You are now ready to control the appliances with your own power of voice by the commands. You can control more electrical appliances by increasing the number of channels in the relay. For instance, using another 8-channel relay, you can control up to twelve devices. Even you customize the application too, (Device Add, Edit, Delete) For this, you need to alter the source code by adding input commands to control the devices.
