SMART BLUETOOTH HOME AUTOMATION
Nowadays, Everyone has a smartphone with them all the time. So it makes sense to use these to control home appliances as well. Presented here is a smart Bluetooth home automation system using a simple Android app, which you can use to control electrical appliances with a single touch. signal or data are communicated via Bluetooth to Arduino mega 2560. So you need not get up to switch on or switch off the device while watching a movie or doing some work.
To build a robust hardware infrastructure and controlling to the home appliance by smartphone (Bluetooth enable devices).
PROJECT: HOW IT IS WORKING
The project containing a small size of control box which consists full of the circuit is built around an Arduino mega board, Bluetooth module HC-05, and 8-channel relay board. The number of channels depends on the number of appliances you wish to control. Arduino Mega is powered with a 5V DC adaptor/power source. The relay module and Bluetooth module can be, in turn, powered using a board power supply of Arduino mega.
PROJECT: SOFTWARE (APP)
The software program for the project(Automation_Control.ino) is written in Arduino programming language (java & c++) called Processing. Arduino mega is programmed using Arduino IDE software that you can download from arduino.cc.
The smartphone app program for the project(IS_Automation.apk) is the design and coded by an android programming language Which is java and XML. the smartphone app is programmed using Android studio v2.3.2 IDE software that you can download from Android studio.com
Procedure for installing the Android app (.apk) is as follows:
1. Download the app (IS_Automation.apk). a link has to be attached below, and Copy it to your Android smartphone.
2. Run .apk file. It will prompt you to complete the action. Click Package Installer and then Install.
3. Run the "IS_Automation" Icon from your smartphone menu.
PROJECT: IMPLEMENTATION AND TESTING
Assemble the circuit as shown in the circuit diagram. Open Arduino IDE and compile the program (sketch). Upload the sketch (Automation_Control.ino) to the Arduino board. Switch on the power supply to Arduino by connecting it to the 5v power source. Pair the Bluetooth module with your Android phone. Type password ‘1234’ (default password) of the Bluetooth module.
- Run the IS_AUTOMATION app and register an account. then log in to it.
- Select the device button
- Click the pair button on the app to connect it with the Bluetooth module. It automatically connects and displays as Connected in the app.
You are now ready to control the appliances using the app. You can control more electrical appliances by increasing the number of channels in the relay. For instance, using another 8-channel relay, you can control up to twelve devices. For this, you need to alter the source code by adding input commands to control the devices.
